Articulate Storyline Expert · Fortune 500 Trusted · 4,000+ AI Hours
12 years designing enterprise learning that measurably changes behavior. From custom JavaScript gamification to AI-accelerated production — I build experiences that get results, not just completions.
"One employee played the game 21 times just to outperform a colleague."
Custom escape room assessment, Fortune 500 client.
"His customer-first mindset, ability to learn quickly, and multi-disciplinary expertise are exactly what make Russell an excellent fit for any team."
I build enterprise learning that changes behavior — not training that just gets completed.
My career started at the ground level. In 2013 I joined Spryos as a support specialist, learning the end-user experience firsthand. That perspective became the foundation for everything since: every design decision starts with the learner, not the template.
Over the next decade I grew from instructional designer to senior designer, project manager, and customer success manager — designing enterprise eLearning for Fortune 500 clients including Intel, sustaining a 100% CSAT score, and earning a six-year strategic retainer along the way. I pair deep Articulate Storyline craft with the custom JavaScript depth to build what the platform won't give you: gamified assessments, branching simulations, custom navigation players, and xAPI instrumentation that turns learning into business intelligence.
Today I'm the founder of Small Boulder AI, where I've logged 4,000+ hours of hands-on AI production. I also drove enrollment and ran the out-of-class learning experience for a $20K AI bootcamp — onboarding, job aids, reminder communications, and learning summaries that kept owners progressing between sessions. I bring that same AI fluency back into L&D — accelerating production without cutting the quality that makes training actually work.
Advanced proficiency with the custom JavaScript depth to build what the platform won't give you.
Real business problems. Real solutions. Every result is documented.
Two fully playable courses, custom JavaScript navigation players, course samples, and original Adobe CC design — the actual builds behind the outcomes above.

Russell guided our team through building a gamified learning program from scratch. He drew upon his skills in coding, graphic design, and other areas to create holistic solutions. His structured approach, combined with his creativity, turned an ambitious idea into a highly effective program. His customer-first mindset, ability to learn quickly, and multi-disciplinary expertise are exactly what make Russell an excellent fit for any team.
It has been a joy to work with Russell creating product and sales training at Intel. He is a strong communicator, asks very good questions, and often comes up with creative ways to effectively communicate information. I am confident you will love working with Russ!
Russell is one of the most diligent people I have ever known. For him, leaving something undone, or done poorly is not an option. He consistently applies himself fully and adds genuine value to any organization.
SCORM tells you someone finished a course. That's a checkbox, not an insight. xAPI implementation turns every learning experience into a business intelligence layer — and most developers don't know how to build it.
The escape room assessment in this portfolio doesn't just report pass/fail. When xAPI is layered in, it captures every puzzle attempt, every wrong decision, every voluntary replay — and connects that behavioral data to downstream performance metrics. The fact that one learner played it 21 times isn't just a good story. It's a data point that proves the experience design worked, and xAPI is what makes that measurable.
From support specialist to AI founder — every step built on the last.
